PRODUCT SPECIFICATION – UV INDICATOR LOTION
The UV Indicator Lotion is a powerful tool for enhancing handwashing training, designed to be used in conjunction with the Hand Inspection Cabinet. This specially formulated lotion becomes visible under UV light, allowing users to identify areas that may be missed during handwashing.
To use the UV Indicator Lotion, simply apply two pumps to your hands, simulating the presence of bacteria. Rub the lotion in evenly, just as you would with hand cream. Next, observe your hands under the UV light in the Hand Inspection Cabinet, where the imitation bacteria will glow, highlighting any areas that require attention. Proceed to wash your hands as usual, ensuring thorough coverage. After drying your hands, place them back under the UV light to check for any remaining visible lotion. If you notice areas where the lotion is still present, it indicates that those spots were missed during the initial wash. Refer to the guidance in our Hand Hygiene Education page to improve your technique, wash again, and re-check.
Commonly overlooked areas often include fingernails, thumbs, the spaces between fingers, the back of the hands, and areas around plasters, bandages, and jewellery such as rings and wristwatches. When no traces of the UV Indicator Lotion are visible, you can be confident that a thorough hand wash has been achieved.
